THE 16 participants for next month’s Power Snooker Masters Trophy at Event City, Manchester, have been confirmed.
Joining the 2010 Power Snooker Champion Ronnie ‘The Rocket’ O’Sullivan in the line up will be current World Champion – John Higgins; winner of the 2011 China Open, Judd Trump; Australia’s 2010 World Championship winner, Neil Robertson; 2011 Shanghai Masters winner, Mark Selby; winner of the 2011 German Masters, Mark Williams; 2011 Masters Champion, Ding Junhui; winner of the 2011 Brazil Masters, Shaun Murphy; 2010 Shanghai Masters winner, Ali Carter, along with world class snooker players Stephen Maguire; Graeme Dott; Stuart Bingham; Mark Allen; Matthew Stevens; Stephen Lee and Martin Gould.
Endorsed by World Snooker, the 2011 Power Snooker Masters Trophy will see each player battling it out in quickfire knockout rounds of snooker, with six reds being set up in a diamond shape with a ‘power ball’ in the middle.
Each game will last no more than 30 minutes with the shot-clock ensuring that the audience will be in for a fast paced game of snooker, and the players will be competing for prize money of more than £100,000.
At yesterday’s launch, World Snooker Chairman Barry Hearn was joined by rival boxing promoter Frank Warren, who endorsed the ‘Power Snooker’ concept. The two shared a warm embrace and Warren described their relationship as a ‘healthy rivalry’.
The 2011 Power Snooker Masters Trophy is at Event City, Trafford Centre, Manchester on 19 & 20 November and will be shown live on ITV4 over the weekend.
