Power Snooker To Return

POWER Snooker, the innovative event that prompted mixed reviews from fans last season, is to make a surprise return following significant new financial investment.

A two-day event will take place in Manchester next month and, like last year, will be broadcast on ITV4. There will be a top prize of £25,000 and it is believed to be the first grand prix of several tournaments.

The Manchester tournament has been hastily organised and the world’s top 16 players have only this week received their invitations.

Last year’s inaugural event at the O2 Arena in London received praise from some fans for its innovative and fast-paced feel. Others, however, found it too gimmicky and disapproved of the loutish behaviour from elements of the crowd, which got worse as the days progressed.
