NEIL Robertson put his poor Premier League form behind him as he beat Ding Junhui 3-1 to win the third mini-tournament in Motherwell.
The 2010 world champion struggled to adapt to the PartyPoker.com Premier League format and rarely produced his best form in the four campaigns he has taken part in.
The opening frame went to a re-spotted black after the players were tied at 56-56, and Ding took it by potting the ball off three cushions, in what was a difficult but perfectly executed shot.
Robertson, who earlier in the evening had beaten John Higgins 3-0 on what was virtually his home turf, took the second frame with a superb break of 140, which earned him an extra £1,000 as the highest of the night.
He followed this up with another century in the next, and his break of 25 in the next meant he had scored 283 points without reply. Ding returned to the table but failed to make sufficient headway, and Robertson returned to pot enough colours to claim victory.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, he said: “The way I played in both matches was good and I outplayed Ding, who is a top player in the final.
“I had a lot of work to do from last season which wasn’t really acceptable and I’ve worked hard on practice table. I was really pleased with how I played and to win two frames with back to back centuries was very satisfying, and to make a 140 in this type of format is something.”
